Building Career Pathways into the Battery & Energy Storage Industry

Challenge

With the U.S. battery storage supply chain requiring over 200,000 new jobs by 2030, the industry faces a critical shortage of skilled workers. Meeting this demand necessitates not only workforce training but also clear pathways to help individuals navigate careers in battery and energy storage, particularly in the emerging hubs of Upstate New York.

Solution

New Energy New York (NENY), in partnership with Julius, developed a comprehensive career map for the battery and energy storage sector. This tool allows users to explore job roles across the entire battery lifecycle, from R&D to manufacturing and grid storage, while providing access to NENY's workforce development programs, creating a streamlined career pathway in this critical industry.

Impact

The career map, created during the first phase of our work with NENY, has empowered individuals with clear pathways to explore and pursue opportunities in the battery storage sector. By addressing workforce needs and connecting users to high-quality next steps, the map supports the industry's growth. Phase 2 will further expand on these efforts, helping to attract and place more talent as the sector continues to evolve.
